Early College Teaching Seminars

three students (smaller)

The Institute on Early College Pedagogy is offering two seminars in 2008 to introduce school leaders and teachers to the philosophy and practices of Bard College at Simon’s Rock that has made it the pioneer early college in the United States. This expanded offering provides professional development with a more flexible schedule to meet the needs of as many early college professionals across the country as possible.

Seminar participants will build powerful partnerships with other early college professionals while learning:

  • the strategies used by Simon's Rock to engage 16-year-old students in college level work
  • pedagogies, curriculum, and cultures of early college

"I came to the seminar expecting to be informed about early college. I am leaving with so much more. The staff at Simon's Rock are obviously pros at this and their expertise and sharing was invaluable. Also, witnessing the mutual respect that faculty, staff and students have for each other was remarkable. Simon's Rock and Bard have clearly demonstrated successful techniques and strategies to deal with today's adolescent."
