Living in the Berkshires

students-treesWhat’s it like to live in the Berkshires? Well, you’d be living in gorgeous, thickly forested mountains that stretch across western Massachusetts, so you’d have access to great skiing, hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities. You’d be a short drive from an astounding number of top-notch colleges and universities (Williams, Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire, Bard, the University of Massachusetts Amherst). And you’d be in the middle of one of the country’s premier cultural centers, home to world-class performance companies and venues (the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Shakespeare & Company, Tanglewood, the Williamstown Theatre Festival), historic sites (Arrowhead: Herman Melville Historic Site; The Mount: Edith Wharton’s Estate and Gardens), and museums (MASS MoCA: The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art; the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute).
