After Simon's Rock

We approach the time that comes after Simon’s Rock with the same careful, critical attention we give to the time our students spend here. When students talk about their future with their advisor or other professors or deans, or when they visit the Win Resource Center, all options are on the table; they’re not limited to thinking about a career (a term that is by now nearly meaningless anyway). In fact they’ll be encouraged to think comprehensively about their future, to treat it not as a set of discrete activities (print resume, find job, receive paycheck, advance career) but as a holistic experience. Which is exactly how they’ve approached their education at Simon’s Rock.

Many of our seniors have already made contacts and secured leads through their internships, extended campus projects, study abroad experiences, conference presentations, collaborative research, and so on. A good number apply to (and get into) specialized programs in the nation’s top graduate schools. In general, though they’re slightly younger than most other college graduates, they’ve spent a lot of time dealing with the hard facts of the (for lack of a better term) adult world, working with professors and professionals, managing budgets, producing shows, arranging service projects, and generally doing what mature, responsible, worldly people do.
