Degree Requirements

The Associate of Arts Degree

The requirements for the AA degree are the successful completion of four RAP courses, the Health and Wellness Program, and 60 credits of course work, including:

Writing and Thinking Workshop 0 credits
First-Year Seminar I and II 8 credits
Sophomore Seminar 4 credits
A Cultural Perspectives course 3 credits
Arts course 3 credits
Mathematics and Its Applications
or a mathematics course beyond that level    
3 credits
Approved science course 3–4 credits
Foreign language 3–8 credits

AA candidates must earn at least 50 of the required 60 credits while enrolled at Simon’s Rock and must earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

The Bachelor of Arts Degree

Requirements for the B.A. degree are:
1. Completion of a Simon’s Rock A.A. degree (or its equivalent from another institution).
2. Admission to the Upper College through Moderation.
3. Completion of the requirements of a program of study, including at least one concentration established by the faculty of Simon’s Rock or Bard and complementary work that is evidence of interdisciplinary breadth.
4. Four courses at the 300-level or above.
5. At least one interdisciplinary B.A. Seminar.
6. At least one tutorial, independent study, ECP, course at Bard college or away during the junior year.
7. A senior thesis
8. Completion of 120 credits of course work, at least 60 of which must be earned at Simon’s Rock or Bard College, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
9. Residence (i.e., full-time enrollment) during the senior year.
