Achieving Health and Wellbeing

We ask our students to make smart, mature choices, live a balanced life, and take responsibility for themselves (which sometimes means asking for help). We’re so serious about health and wellbeing that we put it in our core curriculum: students take four health and wellbeing programs—a lecture, a discussion, a workshop on a topic like sexuality or substance abuse, stress management or eating disorders—and the wellbeing program included in our new student orientation. The trained staff in our Counseling Services office offers short-term consultations and ongoing psychotherapy, workshops, and access to a consulting psychiatrist. Our Health Services office offers outpatient medical care and assessment suited to the needs of young adults in an academic setting. Student health insurance covers most of these mental health and medical services.
