Stress Whisperers

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Student Union - Snack Bar

Stress whisperers is a weekly, drop in group for students who are interested in learning more about their own and each other's responses to the inevitable stresses and challenges that college life presents. The goal of the group is to identify, through discussion and playful exploration, an enhanced repertoire of responses to stress in order to improve resilience and optimism. We will experience and practice firsthand what research has born out - that much of what we view as stress is often a catalyst for accelerated growth, creativity, and humor.

ACE credits are available for this ongoing group, and participants will come away with many new skills that include but are not limited to - mindfulness,  playfulness,  thinking out of the box,  increased ability to access the body's wisdom, understanding how to embrace and harness one's own emotional style, knowledge about the neurobiology of stress and the "relaxation response", and finally the sense of community that comes from realizing that one's experience is both uniquely and universally human.
