The Memory Learning Circle

What does memory come to mean for us at Simon’s Rock? What does forgetting come to mean? Who is remembered, and who is forgotten? Is there a relationship between being remembered and being heard? Where did the commonplace narratives and histories, not to mention those odd, frequently recalcitrant things comporting themselves as ‘official,’ come from? Where do we encounter the ghosts, whispers, and fateful suggestions of our own institutional past? What does it mean to do ‘memory work,’ or to ‘re-member’ in Toni Morrison’s phrase?
