Bard College at Simon’s Rock will host its annual Family Weekend on Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1, 2009. The weekend allows families and friends of Simon’s Rock students to gain a greater appreciation for the campus experience: from spending time with students in the dorms and at the dining hall, to arranging meetings with their child’s academic advisor, their professors, resident directors, staff and friends. Families and friends will be able to attend workshops, concerts and art events, alumni panels and local cultural events—all in the backdrop of autumn in the Berkshires.
On Friday, visitors may attend open classes; Convocation, a ceremony which honors and recognizes scholarship award recipients; and a welcome reception that introduces families to Simon’s Rock staff and faculty members.
On Saturday, families who have registered will visit with professors, advisors and resident directors; attend panel discussions with current students, staff and alumni; check out the Alumni Library Book Sale and Sponsor-a-Book event; and meet Provost and Vice President Mary Marcy, and other College administrators, during the Provost’s Reception.
Sunday will cap the weekend with a morning hike around one of the Berkshires' most scenic mountain trails, followed by the annual family/faculty/staff/student soccer game.
A final schedule of events will be offered during check-in, and be included in a welcome packet. To keep up-to-date as events are added, visit the Family Weekend web page.
