A theater festival featuring six groundbreaking original works of theater, dance and opera by emerging artists from across the United States
Great Barrington, MA – Bazaar Productions announces the third annual Berkshire Fringe featuring six groundbreaking original works of theater, dance and opera by emerging artists from across the United States. The festival will take place from July 17 - Aug. 5 in the Daniel Arts Center at Simon's Rock College. In addition to hosting six dynamic artists and companies from across the country, this three week festival includes 365 Days/365 Plays, a nation-wide happening of world premiere original short plays by Suzan-Lori Parks; :30 Live!, a free pre-show music series featuring performances by seven of today's hottest sonic innovators; EarlyStages, a showcase of new plays by local young playwrights from our mentorship program; and many other special events including post-show artist discussions and free community workshops.
In 2004, Simon’s Rock alumni Sara Katzoff '97 and Timothy Ryan Olson '95 joined together with Peter Wise to found Bazaar Productions with the mission of establishing a center dedicated to presenting new work in the Berkshire arts community. Since bursting onto the scene in 2005, the Berkshire Fringe has presented dozens of theater ensembles, dance troupes, solo performers, musicians and visual artists from across the country and around the corner. In 2007, this young and vibrant artistic director trio will present more high quality cross-disciplinary theater, dance and music than ever before! This summer's festival showcases the staggeringly diverse talents of today's emerging artists, and does it all at affordable prices.
