A Weekend of Sister Concerts at Bard College at Simon's Rock
GREAT BARRINGTON, MA- Simon’s Rock music students and sisters, Jessica and Karen Lee, will both give performances in the Kellogg Music Center this weekend. Karen Lee, violinist, will be performing on Friday April 25 at 8pm. Jessica Lee will perform select cello music on Saturday April 26 at 2pm.
Karen Lee is a first year student from Kerrville, Texas and has been playing violin since she was six years old. She has been a member of several Orchestras including San Antonio and Hill Country Youth Orchestra, Symphony of the Hills, and Tivy High School Orchestra. This summer Karen plans to attend the Indiana String Academy at Indiana University. Karen will perform pieces such as Saint Saens (Introduction and Rondo Cappricioso), Brahms (violin Sonata no. 2 in A major first movement), and Bach (Sarabande from Partita 2 in D minor).
Jessica Lee is a sophomore at Simon’s Rock and has been playing the cello for ten years. Jessica has been named principal cellist of the All-Region Honor Orchestra, Hill Country Youth Orchestra, Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, and of the All-State Orchestra of Texas. She is also a young-artist for the Cactus Pear Music Festival under the direction of Stephanie Sant’ Ambrogio, concertmaster of the San Antonio Symphony. Jessica has soloed and performed professionally with the Symphony of the Hills, the Oak leaf String Quartet, and the Point Theater in Centerpoint, Texas. For her concert, she will perform pieces by composers such as Beethoven (Sonata No.1 in F Major, Op.5 No.1), Bach (Suite No. 1 in G major), and Schubert (String Trio, B flat major, D. 581).
Other performers in Schubert’s trio will be Jessica’s sister, Karen, and Simon’s Rock Faculty member, Larry Wallach. The event is free and the public is welcomed.
