Dr. Barsky completed two postdocs: one in Data mining at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with Prof. Jiawei Han, and another in Bioinformatics in Ontario Institute for Cancer Research with Dr. Jared Simpson. A large part of her postgraduate research was dedicated to pattern discovery in sequential data, primarily in massive DNA databases. Her current research interests fall at the intersection of database systems, high-performance computing and stringology. She has taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses, equipping her students with a powerful set of computational tools for exploring real-world phenomena.
