Calculus 1 - Online Summer Course

Simon’s Rock is offering an online version of Calculus I (MATH 210) during the summer term, from June 16 to August 17, 2019. Ken Knox is the instructor.

Calculus I

Mathematics 210 |  3 credits

A course in differential and integral calculus in one variable. Topics include an introduction to limits and continuity, the derivative and its applications to max-min and related rate problems, the mean value theorem, the definite integral, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.

Prerequisite: Mathematics 109 or adequate performance on the mathematics placement exam.

Online Class

In the online version of the class, video lectures are supplemented with office hours and instructor support. Students can meet with the instructor in-person or online. Students can also email questions at any point during the course.

While a typical semester course is 13.5 weeks, the online version accelerates to 9 weeks. Students should expect to spend 13 - 22 hours per week on the coursework.

The cost of this summer class is $1200. In order to complete the tests and final exam, students need to find a test proctoring center. The instructor can help students set this up. The instructor will also be proctoring tests on-campus.
