Annual Fund and Donor Relations Associate

Bard College at Simon’s Rock seeks an Annual Fund Associate to manage The Fund for Simon’s Rock (the Annual Fund). Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement, one of the Annual Fund Associate’s primary roles is to work closely with the Assistant Director, Annual Fund to support efforts to renew and increase Annual Fund donors. The Annual Fund Associate will also be principally involved in donor relations and research, including stewardship and fulfillment, wealth screening and prospect discovery, and event logistics (including and not limited to invitations, registration, and follow-up communications).

Among other responsibilities, the Annual Fund Associate will:

  • Manage donors who contribute up to $499 annually to Simon’s Rock, ensuring those donors are renewed and overall participation at that level increases;
  • Support phone-a-thons, text-a-thons, webinars, virtual meet-ups and reunions and other solicitation events directed at families, alumni and other Simon’s Rock constituents;
  • Provide support in maintaining databases, giving pages and some social media
  • Assist in the planning and execution of departmental and inter-departmental events including Commencement/Alumni Weekend, Family Weekend, Founder’s Day and Arrivals Day
  • Perform wealth screening and discovery research in support of the Assistant Director and Director’s portfolio work
  • Manage and maintain pristine records to ensure knowledge transfer among team members and reliability of data
  • Jump in where needed and as requested

The successful candidate will have two years of fundraising experience and will be conversant with fundraising databases or have the knowledge set to learn their application (knowledge of Banner, Evertrue and iWave a plus). The successful candidate also will bring an appreciation for liberal arts education and the early college movement, the ability to manage multiple projects at once, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team. Additionally, the successful candidate will excel at crafting professional emails and other external-facing correspondence. The successful candidate will be comfortable and helpful in a departmental environment of building and refining best practices. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Bard College at Simon’s Rock is the nation’s only four-year college of liberal arts and sciences specifically designed to provide bright, highly motivated students with the opportunity to begin college in a residential environment after the tenth or eleventh grade. Students who successfully complete the requirements receive the Associate of Arts (AA) degree after two years and the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree after four. In 2015, Simon’s Rock launched Bard Academy at Simon’s Rock – a two-year private secondary boarding and day school program, taught by college faculty, to prepare students for entry to the college.
