Bard College at Simon’s Rock invites applications for a regular, full-time position in mathematics to begin Fall 2019.
A small, selective liberal arts college, Bard College at Simon’s Rock serves younger students eager to begin college early, with a median age of 16 at entry. Ambition and achievement in math beyond what is normally offered in high school is one motivation for students applying to Bard College at Simon’s Rock. Bard Academy, our accelerated high school program that opened in 2015, serves such students at the 9th and 10th grade level. The successful candidate should expect to teach one course in Bard Academy every four semesters.
Regular faculty appointments at Bard College at Simon's Rock are for 3-, 4-, and subsequent 10-year contracts. Full-time faculty teaching load is 3/3, and the student-faculty ratio in our regular math course offerings is 15:1 on average.
Qualifications for this position include a PhD in mathematics or related field by the time of appointment and a demonstrated ability to teach courses ranging from the introductory to the advanced undergraduate level. All areas of mathematics will be considered. The ideal candidate should have significant research experience and a research plan that incorporates undergraduate students. Experience working with a diverse student population is preferred.
