Bard College at Simon’s Rock seeks full-time visiting faculty to teach courses in literature, starting in Fall 2022. We seek educators interested in innovative approaches to teaching literature and writing, and with the ability to offer courses in a range of literary traditions and genres. Of particular interest are candidates with a specialization in English/American literature. Expertise in formal teaching of writing is also desirable.
Simon’s Rock is a small liberal arts college in Berkshire County, Massachusetts which serves students ready to begin college after the 10th grade. In addition to the College, our high school program, Bard Academy, educates students at the 9th and 10th grade levels, who then matriculate into the College. We have recently launched a new partnership under the Massachusetts Early College Initiative (MECI) to increase access to higher education by offering college-level courses for juniors and seniors at local public high schools.
Successful applicants must be committed to teaching at both the high school and college levels, and will play a vital role in the full range of our academic programs, including the College’s First Year Seminar sequence and Literary Studies program, the Academy literature curriculum, and the MECI courses. Candidates will be expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including student advising.
Applicants should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information for three references through Interfolio.com at: http://apply.interfolio.com/110607
