Deborah Eisenberg is the author of four collections of short stories, in addition to The Collected Stories of Deborah Eisenberg, which won the 2011 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. Described by Ben Marcus as “one of the most important fiction writers now at work,” she is the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship (a.k.a. “the genius grant”), the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story, the Rea Award for the Short Story, a Whiting Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. A member of the American Academy of Arts & Letters, she is a Professor of Writing at Columbia University.
