Saturday, May 11
Liebowitz Center for International Studies
Join us for a tree blessing ceremony and afternoon of tree-related arts activities. The ceremony will be led by Rani Findlay, with the assistance of the Berkshire Treesisters, in honor of the white oak tree on the campus of Bard College at Simon's Rock. There will also be an open mic (the second open mic of the White Oak Tree Celebration) at 1:00 p.m.
Throughout the afternoon, photographer Kristin Jones' 24-hour time-lapse photography presentation will continue (after having started on Fri., May, 10 at 7:00 p.m.), Berkshire Natural Resources Coucil will lead educational nature games, Simon's Rock fiber artists will craft ritual tree adornments, "Wilderness Pete" will host craftmaking for the little ones, and treehouse-builder extraordinaire Allen Timmons of Backyard Heirlooms will entertain attendees with music and stories. Hot soup and rolls will be served, too!
This fun afternoon is presented as part of the weekend-long White Oak Tree Celebration, a time to raise awareness about the formidable 260-year-old tree on the campus of Bard College at Simon's Rock. The event is hosted by Daniel's Art Party at Simon's Rock, an exploration of progressive multimedia and community engagement.
Additional White Oak Tree Celebration events include:
White Oak Tree Celebration: Part 1: Fri., May 10, 5:00 p.m.
White Oak Tree Celebration: Part 2: Fri., May 10, 7:00 p.m.
