Virtual

RISE and Shine is an experimental remote approach to RISE office hours. RISE (Rockers for Intervention, Support, and Education) is an organization by-and-for students focusing on well-being and mental health advocacy. Since RISE’s conception in 2017, one of its main goals has been to serve as a conduit between students and resources both on- and off-campus, all the while demystifying the process of asking for help and accessing support. RISE and Shine office hours are run talk-show style: Ali, the RISE Peer Mentor, facilitates a conversation with a different special guest who is involved in student support. Members of the Simon’s Rock community can submit questions anonymously either via a Google Form throughout the week or live in the Zoom meeting.

This event is open to everyone in the community: Academy and College students, faculty, staff, and administrators. The space exists to facilitate communication and foster connections between and among students and employees. This is an opportunity for students to seek clarification and transparency. In attending a safe space, our hope is that students will feel empowered to reach out for help or encourage their peers to do the same.
