2021 Constitution Day Lecture
Douglas Mishkin: "The Constitution, Aaron Sorkin and 'The West Wing': Let's Argue"

What can Aaron Sorkin--writer of The West Wing, The Social Network, The Newsroom, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and so much more--teach us about the Constitution? Plenty. Like the Constitution, Sorkin's shows and movies are, among other things, about how we argue with each other.

Doug Mishkin is a lawyer, singer-songwriter, and frequent lecturer. He recently taught "The Values of Aaron Sorkin: The West Wing and Beyond" for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Previously he taught "The Scopes Monkey Trial: Then and Now" and "The Songs of Woody's Children: Pete Seeger and Beyond." In January 2021, he interviewed the civil rights legend and lawyer who represented Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Doug is also proud to work with Simon's Rock in placing students in internships with social justice organizations throughout the Berkshires.

This event is open to the Simon's Rock campus community only.
