South Berkshire Concert: Thomas Sauer, pianist

Sunday, October 22

Daniel Arts Center - McConnell Theater

"Homage": a solo piano recital by Thomas Sauer, including works by Bach, Mozart, Meltzer, Piazzolla, and featuring Brahms' "Variations on a Theme by Handel." American pianist Thomas Sauer performs regularly as soloist, chamber musician, and recital partner. His large and varied repertoire encompasses Bach to the present day and includes both staples and neglected masterworks. Audiences and critics alike praise his playing for its clarity, expressivity, and assured stylistic sense.

“Sunday’s recital … was a sublime display of virtuosity by two musicians of international stature. [Cellist] Colin Carr … and [pianist] Thomas Sauer …established an instant rapport both with each other and with the audience, so the musical sparks began to fly early on… . Sauer … played with a conviction that elevated him above the status of mere accompanist.”
