Bard College at Simon's Rock: the Early College

How We Got Through: Talk Between Sisters

Thursday, March 28, 2019

Daniel Arts Center - Black Box Theater

A conversation about mental illness and recovery by two sisters, Tess Adams '97 and Meg Hutchinson '95.

In 2006, Tess was just starting the MSW program at Smith College and her sister Meg was hospitalized and diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder. Together they embarked on a journey of survival and recovery. Their story includes the many complex issues of educating a family, accepting an illness, and getting the support from a greater network as you see a loved one through a time of crisis. The presentation includes many positive examples of ways in which presence, love, advocacy, spiritual support, and mindfulness can impact recovery. Meg and Tess are both graduates of Bard College at Simon's Rock.

Student activity: not open to the public.
