Visiting Assistant Professor in Chinese

Bard College at Simon’s Rock invites applications for a one-semester visiting full-time maternity leave replacement position in Chinese for the Spring 2018 term, beginning January 2018.

The full-time teaching load at Simon’s Rock is three courses per semester (maximum enrollment per course is 15), and the ideal candidate will be prepared to teach one Accelerated Beginning course and one Intermediate Chinese course in our early college program and one course in Bard Academy, our accelerated high school program. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree and experience working with ambitious students in a challenging setting.

Applicants are asked to send a cover letter, CV, brief statement of teaching interests, and contact information for two references to ChineseSpring2018@simons-rock.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Bard College at Simon’s Rock is a highly selective small liberal arts college for students eager to begin college early, usually after 10th or 11th grade. With 50 years of success, Simon’s Rock has demonstrated that early entry into college leads to greater academic achievement, social resiliency, and career success. The school seeks applicants with experience or interest in working with highly motivated young people. As a small, inclusive community of scholars in a rural New England setting, we seek to broaden the range of perspectives within the faculty and encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups. This is an affirmative action, equal opportunity position. Employment is contingent on a background check.
