Web Producer

Bard College at Simon’s Rock is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and focused Web Producer. Reporting to the Website Manager, the Web Producer is a key member of the Office of Marketing and Communications. The Web Producer manages content and builds new features in order to help the team meet the strategic goals of the department.

Applicants should be experienced with HTML/CSS as well as using a Content Management System (CMS). Other languages, technical skills, and aptitude are desirable, but specific skills to our development environment can be learned on the job. Rather than a specific language or program, we are more interested in someone who solves problems with design thinking, has transferable skills, and has the ability and interest to learn.

The primary website is managed with OmniUpdate, a CMS that uses XSL to output HTML. The website also relies on PHP, JavaScript, and CSS. We also work with Slate customer relationship management (CRM), Git, Google Analytics, Visual Website Optimizer, Google Tag Manager, and Google AdWords.


  • Update content within the CMS, working with content contributors
  • Create new CSS Patterns
  • Create new forms based on existing form style and development
  • Skin Slate content for consistent branding
  • Error test and fix bugs
  • Build, develop, and program new features in XSL, PHP, and/or JavaScript
  • Create HTML emails and input them into the CRM software
  • Measure and analyze data using Google Analytics and the CRM
  • Assist with preparing digital content including graphics, photographs for the website, e-marketing, and social media
  • Assist Website Manager with other tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years related experience in a similar position
  • Portfolio demonstrating coding style that is effective, efficient, and accessible to members of a team
  • Fluent in HTML and CSS
  • Experience with CMSs and CRMs
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, strategic thinking, and concern for user experience
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office (or similar product suite)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with a wide range of colleagues and clients
