An Evening of Theatre, Music and… Recycling!

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

As a participant in the global initiative, Climate Change Theater Action, in association with this month’s United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP21) in France. Bard College at Simon's Rock students will present An Evening of Theatre, Music, and… Recycling!  on December 11th at 7PM in the Liebowitz Studio Theater in the Daniel Arts Center at Bard College at Simon’s Rock.
 
Spearheaded by Simon’s Rock senior in the Theatre Program, Seth Roseman, and featuring Simon’s Rock students in association with guest teachers, Jessica Sovronsky and Alexander Sovronsky, the evening will consist of short presentations including the first workshop production of The Once-ler Story by Jessica Sovronsky, a reading of an excerpt of Harry Newman’s Dry Time, information from local energy conservation organization The Center for EcoTechnology, live music and more. 
 
This month, the United Nations is holding its 21st Conference on Climate Change (COP21) in France.  This year’s convention is extremely important, as there will be a vote held to discover if world’s powers are willing to proceed with a commitment to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius. This is a crucial moment in time for our world.  Here’s what CNN has to tell us: "In support of COP21 and in an effort to raise awareness about climate change through performance and art, three well-known theatre companies, NoPassport, The Arctic Cycle and Theatre Without Borders have pooled their efforts to organize the month-long initiative, Climate Change Theatre Action, a collection of climate change focused performance events with over 85 collaborating partners world-wide presenting simultaneous events with a local focus." We are proud to be just one!

Not only will you see great performances, you will also walk away with information about climate change and ideas about what you can do to help raise awareness and minimize global warming in your own local and global communities. This is an event not to be missed!
