3-2 Dual Engineering Degree with Columbia University
Dartmouth College 2-1-1-1 Dual Engineering Degree
For both programs, careful course planning is required in order to fit in foundational and distribution coursework. Students interested in either program should contact the program director, Dr. Mike Bergman ([email protected]), before registering for courses in their first year.

3-2 Dual Engineering Degree with Columbia University

Study three years at Simon’s Rock/Bard College and two years at Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. 
Finish with an AA from Simon’s Rock, a BA from Bard College, and a BS from Columbia University.
  • Possible areas of concentration within Columbia’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
    Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Earth and Environmental Engineering, Financial Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Operations Research/Industrial Engineering.
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment at Simon’s Rock/Bard College for at least five semesters, preferably six (approved study abroad is possible). 
    • 3.5 GPA overall and in pre-engineering coursework. 
    • Completion of the foundational and major-specific prerequisite courses. 
    • Faculty recommendation letters from a science instructor, a math instructor, and program director Dr. Mike Bergman.

Dartmouth College 2-1-1-1 Dual Engineering Degree

Complete two years at Simon’s Rock, junior year away at Dartmouth College, return to Bard College for senior year, and return to Dartmouth for the final year. Finish with an AA from Simon’s Rock, a BA from Bard College, and a BE from Dartmouth College. 

For the Dartmouth program, some of the foundational courses can be taken at Dartmouth. The Dartmouth program emphasizes engineering breadth and close work with faculty. Dartmouth will not transfer visa in junior year, so the Dartmouth program may not be open to international students.
