Simon's Rock’s Dean of Faculty and Curricular Development Brendan Mathews’ Short Story “Maniacs” Listed in Distinguished Stories in the Best American Short Stories 2023

The short story “Maniacs” by Brendan Mathews, Dean of Faculty and Curricular Development and faculty in Creative Writing and Literature, was included in the list of Distinguished Stories in the new Best American Short Stories 2023. Every year, Best American Short Stories selects 20 stories to appear in their annual anthology and cites 100 “Other Distinguished Stories” in the back of the volume.

“Maniacs” is Mathews’ third story to be included on the Distinguished Stories list, while two other stories were selected for inclusion in the Best American Short Stories of 2010 and Best American Short Stories of 2016.
