Simon’s Rock Mourns Loss of Owen D. “Corky” Shultis

Simon’s Rock lost one of its longest serving employees over the holidays. Owen D. “Corky” Shultis passed away at home on December 21, 2019, days before his 67th birthday.

Corky served as the Electrical & Mechanical Supervisor for the College. First starting as a young adult at 23 years of age, Corky cared deeply about the College, and worked in Physical Plant for the next 43 years.

Sometimes gruff on the outside, those who knew him best knew what a kind, gentle man he was, with a soft spot for his cats and his wife Barbara, who serves as Director of Plant Operations at Simon’s Rock.

In addition to Barb, Corky is survived by his sons John and David as well as his brother Brian.

Services included a well-attended reception at Blodgett House.
