Diane Rhoades-Warner, assistant Payroll and Benefits manager, was honored with the Gregory Rhoades Award at the annual Board of Overseers dinner during commencement weekend. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the commendation – which is given to an outstanding member of the staff or administration each year. Professor Emeritus (and former vice president and dean) Bernard Rodgers created the award in 1996 in memory of Gregory Rhoades (1958-1995), a director of physical plant who set the benchmark for excellence in his stewardship of the campus. The award recognizes those who share his devotion and commitment to the College.
“Gregory quickly proved himself to be an able, informed, and multi talented colleague and leader who faced major challenges with dedication, imagination, and skill,” Bernie said.
Diane worked at Bard College for eight years before making the move to Simon’s Rock in 1986 as part of the Dining Hall staff. She transferred to the switchboard in 1988, and later earned a promotion to Telecommunications manager. In 2005, she assumed her current role as the assistant payroll and Benefits manager in the Business Office.
“I was touched and very grateful to Ian Bickford for inviting me to attend this year's Board of Overseers dinner to present the 20th Rhoades award to my friend and colleague Diane Rhoades-Warner. For nearly 30 years, Diane has served our community with kindness, care, and thoughtfulness,” he continued.
Dr. Ian Bickford added, “I am honored to recognize her with the award in memory of her husband. Her dedication to Simon's Rock is evident in every detail of her work, and we all rely on her, in big ways and small, every day. Diane: we are all grateful for the heart you bring to the place we share.”
Congratulations Diane!
