GREAT BARRINGTON, MA — Simon’s Rock Faculty of Computer Science Myo Thida was recently
elevated to senior Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering member.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to electrical engineering, electronics engineering, communications, computer engineering, and other related disciplines.
According to the IEEE, “Senior Membership is an honor bestowed only to those who have made significant contributions to the profession.” To qualify, members such as Thida, must be engineers, scientists, educators, technical executives, or originators in IEEE-designated fields; have experience reflecting professional maturity; have been in professional practice for at least ten years (with some credit for certain degrees); and show significant performance over a period of at least five of their years in professional practice.
As an IEEE Senior member, Thida will receive professional recognition of her peers for technical and professional excellence, eligibility to hold executive IEEE volunteer positions, ability to serve as a reference for other applicants for Senior Membership, an invitation to be on the panel to review Senior member applications, and a letter of commendation on the achievement of Senior member grade.
Thida has been contributing to several research publications since 2006, such as the recent Digital disparities in Myanmar: A case study for sustainable digitalization and Model-based detection and segmentation of vehicles for intelligent transportation system.
