Intermediate Electives

  • French Grammar and Composition (FREN 206) - This course provides a thorough review of grammar and practice in oral presentations in French.
  • French Food, Culture, and Literature (FREN 216) - French cuisine is an essential part of the French identity; this course will foster an appreciation of French food and will investigate why in France, according to one critic, "la cuisine est et ne cessera jamai d'être un art."
  • Paris on the Page (FREN 217) - Explore the city of Paris as the center of French culture and as a world capital.

Advanced Electives

  • Modern French Theater (FREN 321) - Learn about the major movements in modern French theater, including realism, symbolism, and the theater of the absurd. This course is taught as a tutorial. Talk to Maryann Tebben if interested in arranging a tutorial.
  • Female Writers in French Literature (FREN 323) - Notable female writers of French literature, philosophy, and theory are examined in light of the concept of l'écriture féminine.
