Streaming: Rita Dove Poetry Reading
Thursday, April 23, 2020
Virtual
In celebration of National Poetry Month, join us for a viewing of Rita Dove's 2010 reading on campus (link in Weekly Events Roundup Email). Sonata Mullatica was the year's Book One selection, and Dove came to campus that September to share her poems with the Simon's Rock community.
From the Poetry Foundation: "Sonata Mulattica follows the tempestuous life of 18th-century violinist Bridgetower, who took Europe by storm, had a famous sonata composed for him, and died in obscurity. The Los Angeles Times described Dove’s book as an 'ambitious effort, using multiple distinctive voices and perspectives to chronicle the complex tale ‘of light and shadow, / what we hear and the silence that follows.’"
