Bard College at Simon's Rock: the Early College

A Conversation with Daniel Giraldo-Wonders

Thursday, April 1, 2021

Bard College at Simon's Rock

Join us for Pedro Lemebel’s Manifesto: A Queer Studies Conversation with Daniel Giraldo-Wonders, Faculty in Languages and Literature.

Pedro Lemebel (1952-2015) was a Chilean poet, performance artist, and queer activist whose groundbreaking work critiqued the culture of homophobia among Leftists during and after Pinochet’s dictatorship. His manifesto, Hablo por mi diferencia, endures as a challenge to oppression within activist movements.

Please join us on Thursday evening, April 1 at 6:00 p.m. as Daniel Giraldo-Wonders, Simon’s Rock faculty in Spanish, Latin American Literature, and Queer Studies, reads from Lemebel’s work and frames it within the context of Pride Week at Simon’s Rock.

Read the poem in Spanish and an unauthorized English translation.
