Writer and Artist Delano Burrowes to Deliver 26th Annual W.E.B. Du Bois Lecture
Monday, February 20, 2023
Daniel Arts Center - McConnell Theater
Brooklyn-based writer and artist Delano Burrowes will deliver the 26th W.E.B. DuBois Memorial Lecture entitled "The Languages Black Folks Speak: Letting Go of the Myth about Finding our True Voice''. Originally from Great Barrington, also the hometown of W.E.B. Du Bois, Delano Burrowes's work is heavily connected to Du Bois's concepts of double consciousness and how Black people internalize the idea that their existence is inherently seen as a problem. Established in 1996, the annual W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Lecture is given each year by a distinguished individual whose own achievements carry on the legacy of Du Bois. The event is free and open to the public. A livestream is also available at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89180510750.
