Bard College at Simon's Rock: the Early College

International Student Support Team

Our International Student Support Team (ISST) serves students through advising, immigration services, programming, advocacy, and outreach.

We are here to support you and want your academic, social, and cultural adjustment process to be successful. Our goal is to help you integrate fully into the Simon’s Rock community.

The ISST is comprised of staff from several offices around campus including Admissions, Campus Life, and Academic Affairs. There's also a Dean of Students as the team lead, a semi-retired Provost, and two International Peer Mentors (students). The team meets weekly to discuss your needs or concerns as we work to strengthen our support system. Everyone on the team is dedicated to help you, so please stop by our offices.

We help international students in many ways

  • International Student Orientation: a welcome dinner for new international students and families
  • Trips and outings during breaks: international food markets in Boston and New York City
  • Immigration guidance: workshop about the benefits of an F1 visa
  • Tax guidance: tax prep software workshops
  • Securing required authorization and payroll certification for on-campus and off-campus work/internships
  • Workshops run by international students during Equity and Inclusion Day
  • Cross-cultural advising and transition assistance with social and academic adjustments
  • Issuance of I-20 forms for international F-1 students
  • Travel and re-entry advising
  • International student advisory meetings with the provost and senior administrators where you can make suggestions or voice your concerns
  • End-of-semester international student dinner
  • Assist with obtaining a Social Security number

Talk to us about anything

How are your classes? Who are your friends? Need help figuring out our campus culture? Tell us about your culture. We're here to make sure your visa status remains valid. We'll help you get a job on campus or off campus in your field of study.
