URL Names

Use intuitive and consistent URLs.  

URL Naming

URL names should briefly describe the contents. Make something intuitive and avoid using names that require specialized knowledge to understand.

• Use a dash instead of a space and avoid punctuation.
• Do not use (,’& in file name or folder.
• Avoid using unnecessary words such as "the"

Example: academics.php

Avoid

• academic program.php - avoid Spaces
• acadaff.php - not intuitive
• academics,study.php  - avoid punctuation
• Academics.php - avoid capitalization
• academics-areas-of-study-and-majors.php avoid overly lengthy names
• the-academics - avoid the

Name and URL Change

• If changing a directory name, update the breadcrumb with the props.pcf file
• If changing a page name, update the nav.inc file
• If changing the URL of a live page, submit a Redirect Request
