Use intuitive and consistent URLs.
URL Naming
URL names should briefly describe the contents. Make something intuitive and avoid
using names that require specialized knowledge to understand.
- Use a dash instead of a space and avoid punctuation.
- Do not use (,’& in file name or folder.
- Avoid using unnecessary words such as "the"
Example: academics.php
Avoid
- academic program.php - avoid Spaces
- acadaff.php - not intuitive
- academics,study.php - avoid punctuation
- Academics.php - avoid capitalization
- academics-areas-of-study-and-majors.php avoid overly lengthy names
- the-academics - avoid the
Name and URL Change
- If changing a directory name, update the breadcrumb with the props.pcf file
- If changing a page name, update the nav.inc file
- If changing the URL of a live page, submit a Redirect Request
