Brand Voice Writing & Grammar Style Guide
Please refer to this guide when writing for the Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock. For questions regarding grammar or tone, please contact communications@simons-rock.edu.

If you have a public-facing event that you would like advertised on the Simon’s Rock Event Calendar, please complete the Event Calendar/Publicity Request Form located on the Simon’s Rock portal homepage in the Event, Website, and Creatives Request Form section. All event-related publicity (posters, ads, press releases, social media posts, etc.) can be requested through this form. Please note, a PO is required to submit this form.

You may subscribe to the Simon’s Rock campus calendar to learn about upcoming events. An events preview for the following week is emailed to subscribers prior to every weekend. Make sure to check your Simon’s Rock email daily for additional notifications.

If your department has a different design request (letterhead, business cards, brochures, informational posters, etc.) please complete the Design Request Form located on the Simon’s Rock portal homepage in the Event, Website, and Creatives Request Form section. After the form is complete, a member of the Communications & Marketing team will be in touch. Please do not submit Event Calendar requests through this form.

The Communications and Marketing department can also share any news via press release or social media. Please complete the Share Your News Form located on the Simon’s Rock portal homepage in the Event, Website, and Creatives Request Form section. News may include publishing a book, publishing research, receiving a grant, debuting an art gallery, and more. We strongly encourage you to share your news with us so we can highlight the achievements of the Simon’s Rock Community.

Social media outlets such as Tik Tok, Instagram, and Facebook help keep us connected to the community, highlighting what makes Bard Academy, Bard College at Simon’s Rock, and BQLP stand out. If you have any photos from an on-campus event, feel free to send your photos to communications@simons-rock.edu. Follow us on our official accounts!

Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock does not collect photo or video release forms from members of its faculty, staff, or student body. Rather, the Academy and College assumes that members of our community will welcome involvement in the documentation of activities at Simon’s Rock as the best means of marketing the Academy and College.

To withhold photo and video permission, please complete the linked form here and return the signed form to COMMUNICATIONS@SIMONS-ROCK.EDU

A parent or student may withhold permission for said student to be photographed or filmed during school sponsored and school sanctioned activities only upon completion of this form. Please note that those who do not return this signed and completed form may be featured in Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock marketing materials and any school related social media.

All photographs and video taken for Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock are Academy and College property and may be used in promotional material produced, used, or contracted by Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock, including but not limited to: electronic and print publications, websites, social media, classroom use, and academy and college advertisements. The Academy and College reserves the right to take photographs and video of campus facilities and scenes, events, faculty, staff, and students for Academy and College use in any areas on campus where subjects do not have an expectation of privacy, and provided the photographs do not violate the privacy of the subject.

We ask that if you have completed the opt-out form and prefer not to appear in any official photos or videos for Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock, please absent yourselves or otherwise identify yourself as someone who has completed the opt-out form when Academy and College-sponsored photographers or videographers are documenting activities and events. Any individual or entity wishing to engage in photography or videography for production, broadcast, or public dissemination by any means on Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock property must obtain permission in advance from an appropriate Academy or College official.
