Thesis Exhibition: Learning Through Lenses

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

Daniel Arts Center - Student Gallery

Learning Through Lenses, thesis exhibition by Madison Alicea, consists of photographs that express the intersection of three therapeutic fields: positive psychology, ecological therapies, and expressive arts therapies. In the exploration of and elaboration on this junction, Madison observes personal and communal perceptions of the environment based on relationships and dynamics outside of the clinical frame, while also developing an awareness of her own subjectivity which emerges from the photographic process. She has begun to refer to this crossroads as Positive Eco-Art therapy: the reevaluation of her own understanding of these fields which became influential in the composition of these photos, formed the overall content for the artist, and serves as an invitation for viewers to contemplate their own relationship to the environment.

On view: Monday, February 25th - Thursday, March 7th.
Opening reception: Wednesday, February 27th, 5-7p.m. in the Daniel Arts Center Student Gallery.
Artist talk: 5:30p.m. Refreshments will be served.

This event is free and open to the public.
