Nancy Scherich: Dancing with Braids

Join us for December's Mathinar! Nancy Scherich (Institute for Computation and Experimental Research in Mathematics) will present a talk entitled "Dancing with Braids."

The braid group is a mathematical model to describe the knotting behavior of string. In this talk, Scherich will describe how mathematicians built and continue to study this model. Nancy Scherich is a dancer and the discussions in this talk will be prompted by dance videos.
