Bard College at Simon's Rock: the Early College

Seminar on Chemistry Research

Friday, May 4, 2018

Fisher Science Center - Clark Auditorium

Chemist and alumna Johanna Schwartz '10; BA '14 will be presenting a seminar on her PhD research in chemistry. She will also be available after her talk to discuss graduate school options.

Johanna graduated from Bard College at Simon’s Rock in 2014 with a bachelor of arts in Chemistry and Biology. For her undergraduate thesis research, she worked with Dr. David Myers, focusing on natural product synthesis. In particular, the research explored the synthesis and biological testing of antibiotically and antifungally active alkynoic acids and butenolides.

She is now working toward a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Washington. Johanna is a graduate student in the Boydston Research Group in the Department of Chemistry and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.

Johanna was recently featured by Women in 3D Printing. Learn more about Johanna and her research endeavors.

Please make an effort to attend Johanna's talk to support one of our great alumnae!
